BIO
Born and raised in South Texas, Yvette Sanchez has always had a love for photography. She began taking photographs with her 110-film camera. After becoming a nanny for the children of an accomplished portraiture photographer, Sanchez’s interest in photography peaked. She photographed the children she cared for and presented the photographs to their parents.
In 2018, Sanchez lost her beloved grandmother, which propelled her to delve into her family history only to discover that there was very little photographic evidence of her ancestry. After Sanchez’s mother suffered a stroke, she became determined to capture her end-of-life journey and made her the subject of her documentary photography series “Living While Dying”.
These seminal experiences engendered in Sanchez the importance of capturing the beauty and complexities of life. Her education, a BA in Digital Photography from Southern New Hampshire University and an MFA from the Academy of Art University has prepared her to focus on documenting life-stage events. She strives to provide these important services to families who are welcoming a new life or experiencing the losses of their loved ones. Her goal is to capture the memories and moments that mean the most.
Sanchez’s work has been featured in digital showcases across the globe, including at the Galerie Gora in Montreal, Canada, Valid World Hall in Barcelona, Spain, and Matca Gallery in Hanoi, Vietnam.
